Armed Bandits Attack Operation Burst Base Along Igbeti–Igboho Axis, Torch Patrol Van.

OORELOPE, OYO STATE — Armed assailants reportedly attacked the Operation Burst base located within the forest reserve along the Igbeti–Igboho axis in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, in the early hours of Sunday, September 13, 2026.

The incident, which occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., involved the attackers allegedly opening fire on the security formation with sophisticated weapons before fleeing the scene.

According to a security update from the Oorelope Local Government Command, operatives of Operation Burst, alongside personnel from sister security agencies, were mobilised immediately after receiving the distress call. However, the assailants had reportedly escaped before the reinforcement teams arrived.

Preliminary inquiries indicated that the attackers may have targeted the security personnel and intended to seize their weapons.

Although no casualties were reported, the attackers allegedly set fire to a block within the base and a patrol van, reducing both to ashes.

Security agencies are continuing efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, while further details are expected as investigations progress.
