AGSO@50: Remi Oladoye Honoured, Dedicates Alumnus Award to Late Mother, Teachers.

Chief Executive Officer of LUREM G Media, Remi Oladoye, has been honoured with a prestigious Alumnus Award by Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso, as the institution marked its 50th anniversary.

Oladoye, a seasoned media practitioner and peace advocate, was among distinguished old students recognised for their contributions to the growth of the school and their impact on society.

The award was presented during the grand finale of the anniversary celebration held at B.A. Oke Hall, Ogbomoso, on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The three-day anniversary programme, which commenced on Thursday, September 24, featured an anniversary lecture, book launch, sporting activities, award presentation, project commissioning and a back-to-school initiative.

Speaking on the significance of the celebration, President of the Anglican Grammar School Old Students’ Association, Solomon Olugbenga Bello, said the anniversary provided an opportunity not only to celebrate the institution’s legacy but also to appreciate and give back to the school for the role it played in shaping generations of its alumni.

Bello said the award recipients were carefully recognised for their contributions to the development of Anglican Grammar School and their wider contributions to society.

Among other distinguished awardees were Dr Tayo Adiatu, Chairman of Tulcal Engineering; Architect Sakiru Suara; Mr Rotimi Adewole, President of NCRIB; Dr Tayo Magbagbeola; Oba Prof. John Akintola; Prof. Jide Ajao; Prof. Gbenga Solomon Bello; Dr Dapo Ishola; Engineer Yinka Ajao; and Mr Onilede Solomon, among others.

‘I Dedicate This Honour to My Late Mother, My Teachers’

Reacting to the recognition, Oladoye dedicated the award to his late mother, Madam Omotayo Ibironke Oladoye, and the teachers who contributed to his intellectual and character development.

He disclosed that his mother’s insistence was instrumental in his choice of Anglican Grammar School as his first-choice secondary school, describing the institution as a significant part of his formative years.

Oladoye said the honour was particularly meaningful because it came from the institution and community that played a defining role in shaping his life.

“I will forever cherish this award because it came from the people and institution that shaped my life. I dedicate this honour to my late mother, Madam Omotayo Ibironke Oladoye, whose insistence made me choose Anglican Grammar School as my first choice, and to all the teachers who imparted knowledge in me and contributed to the person I have become today.”

Reflecting on his student days, Oladoye candidly recalled that he was not always the most disciplined student, revealing that his stubbornness once resulted in him repeating a class.

He, however, said the experiences, lessons and relationships he gained at the school ultimately became important building blocks in his journey through life.

“I recall that, as a student at Anglican Grammar School, I was stubborn to the extent that I repeated a class. However, the experiences I gathered there helped shape my life, and I remain grateful to the institution and the teachers who played important roles in my formative years.”

Oladoye expressed appreciation to the school and the alumni association for the recognition, describing the award as a deeply cherished reminder of the enduring influence of his formative years at Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso.

The 50th anniversary celebration therefore served not only as a commemoration of five decades of the institution’s history but also as a reunion of generations whose personal and professional journeys remain connected to the values and experiences acquired within its walls.
