NAF Opens 2026 Recruitment, Sets September 3 Launch for New Applicants

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the commencement of its 2026 Basic Military Training Course (BMTC 47/2026) recruitment exercise, opening opportunities for qualified Nigerians seeking enlistment as tradesmen/women and non-tradesmen/women.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, the NAF said online applications would run from September 3 to October 14, 2026, stressing that the recruitment process is strictly free of charge.

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and medically, physically and psychologically fit. Tradesmen/women applicants must be 18–27 years old, while non-tradesmen/women applicants must be 18–22 years old, as of March 1, 2027. Minimum height requirements are 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females.

For tradesmen/women, candidates with ND or NCE qualifications must obtain their certificates from accredited institutions and possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS. Applicants for specialised trades requiring Trade Test certificates must provide the relevant credentials, while drivers must also possess a valid driving licence.

Non-tradesmen/women applicants are required to have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, alongside Primary School Certificates and Secondary School Testimonials.

Successful applicants will be required to submit an Acknowledgement Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form and Local Government Area Attestation Form, with the attestation endorsed by an approved military, police, local government or judicial officer from the applicant’s state of origin.

The NAF said the zonal general aptitude test date would be announced through its recruitment portal, with only successful candidates proceeding to the interview stage.
