Makinde: Nigeria Needs a Reset, Not Just a Change of Government.

Oyo State Governor and 2027 Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has unveiled an ambitious “Reset Nigeria” agenda, declaring that the country’s worsening economic, security and institutional crises can no longer be addressed through routine changes of government or policies.

In a strongly worded newsletter, Makinde argued that Nigeria’s challenge is fundamentally structural, noting that despite successive governments and reform initiatives, millions remain trapped in poverty, while young Nigerians struggle to translate education into meaningful opportunities.

He said his proposed national reset would target the economy, security architecture, education, public institutions and Nigeria’s social and political order, with accountable leadership and active citizenship as its foundation.

Makinde also disclosed that his team would shortly release an alternative petroleum pricing framework, challenging Nigerians to examine the proposal and make their own judgment.

According to him, resetting Nigeria would not be an overnight transformation or the task of one individual, but a deliberate national project driven by a clear roadmap, measurable priorities and sustained citizen participation.

The governor, who is positioning the APM for the 2027 presidential contest, called on Nigerians to join the emerging conversation by identifying what they believe should be reset first.

“Reset Nigeria” therefore emerges as the central plank of Makinde’s evolving presidential proposition: not merely changing who governs Nigeria, but fundamentally changing how Nigeria works.
