The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, has been appointed Director-General of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Governorship and Presidential Campaign Council in the local government.
The appointment, contained in a statement issued to the press on Monday, September 28, 2026, and signed by Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Coordinator of the APM Presidential Campaign and Director-General of the Oyo State APM Governorship Campaign Council, places Akintayo at the helm of the party’s campaign machinery in Ibadan North-East.
Under the new assignment, Akintayo is expected to coordinate and lead the mobilisation and campaign activities for both the APM governorship and presidential candidates across the local government ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointment comes as Akintayo continues in his capacity as Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, effectively combining his administrative responsibilities with the newly assigned campaign role.
In the statement, Adeniran also charged the 33 Local Government Directors-General, who simultaneously serve as campaign coordinators in their respective local governments, to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure a strong electoral showing for the party across Oyo State.
The directive underscores the APM’s growing emphasis on local-government-level coordination as the party builds its campaign structure ahead of the 2027 governorship and presidential contests.
With Akintayo’s appointment, political attention is expected to shift further towards Ibadan North-East, where the new campaign DG will now oversee the party’s grassroots strategy, mobilisation and voter engagement for the two major electoral contests.
