Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has appointed Hon. Sakariya Muhammad Taofeek Aolalubarka as Special Adviser on Rural Development, in a move that brings an experienced administrator and grassroots mobiliser into the state’s governance structure.
Aolalubarka’s appointment adds a seasoned public servant with extensive exposure to local government administration, executive responsibilities and legislative affairs to the Makinde administration.
A graduate of Social Studies from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Aolalubarka holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Ilorin, as well as postgraduate qualifications in Election Administration and Transport Management.
His public service career began at the grassroots, where he served as Supervisor for Education, Youth Development, Information and Community Development at Ogbomoso North Local Government between 2003 and 2007.
He subsequently served as Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor in the Office of the Chief of Staff from 2007 to 2011 before moving to the National Assembly, where he worked as Senior Legislative Assistant to the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015.
From 2015 to 2019, he served as Special Assistant to the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
With a career spanning local government, the executive arm and the legislature, Aolalubarka brings to the new assignment a blend of administrative experience, legislative exposure and grassroots engagement.
His appointment is particularly significant for the rural development portfolio, where effective community engagement and an understanding of local needs remain central to translating government policies into tangible outcomes across rural communities.
The appointment takes effect as part of the Governor’s continuing efforts to deploy experienced hands across strategic sectors of the Oyo State administration.
