Oyo APC Suffers Fresh Jolt as Boye Nation Leads Political Structure into APM.

Sangogade’s Defection Turns Boye Nation–JAF Mega Concert into Major APM Mobilisation Ahead of 2027

The political landscape in Oyo State has witnessed another notable realignment as Ajiboye Akande Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation, formally withdrew his political structure from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Sangogade’s movement into the APM unfolded at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, where thousands of supporters and young people gathered for the much-anticipated Boye Nation/JAF Movement Mega Concert, tagged “Young, United and Unstoppable.”

What was initially billed as a major youth entertainment and social event subsequently assumed a distinctly political character, as Sangogade arrived at the venue with his supporters and the political structure associated with him was formally received into the APM.

The development represents another movement of political actors and grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle, with the latest defection adding a new dimension to the contest for political influence among the major political blocs in Oyo State.

The gathering also provided a platform for the APM leadership to reinforce its political messaging, as the party’s presidential candidate and Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, addressed issues that have recently generated political debate in the state.

Makinde responded to criticism surrounding the reported deployment of diesel-powered generators to illuminate some streetlights, situating the controversy within the wider challenge of Nigeria’s electricity supply and the search for alternative solutions to the country’s persistent power deficit.

The governor also used the occasion to highlight his professional background as a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, while referencing the professional credentials of his preferred governorship candidate, Hon. Abimbola “Bimbo” Adekanmbi, whom he identified as a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Beyond the immediate political significance of Sangogade’s defection, the gathering underscored the growing emphasis being placed on youth mobilisation, political structures and grassroots networks as parties prepare for the 2027 elections.

The presence of prominent APM figures and candidates further elevated the political significance of the event. Among those in attendance were Shina Peller, Ajadi Oguntoyinbo and other party leaders and stakeholders, who joined supporters at the venue.

The political mobilisation was accompanied by an entertainment programme featuring performances from Fuji stars Taiye Currency, Tiri Leather, Ododo Emi, Babatunmise among others, creating a combination of music, youth engagement and political mobilisation.

With Sangogade and his supporters now moving into the APM fold, attention is expected to focus on the extent to which the new alignment will reshape existing political structures and influence further movements across Oyo State as the 2027 political season gathers momentum.

The development has therefore transformed what was conceived as a youth concert into a significant political spectacle—one that placed Boye Nation’s defection, APM’s growing mobilisation and the emerging 2027 political alignments at the centre of attention in Ibadan.
