IBADAN — As Oyo State commemorates its 50th anniversary, a premium 240-page-plus coffee table book, Distinctly Oyo State: The Pacesetter in Colours, has been unveiled as a definitive visual celebration of the state’s history, culture, tourism and development.
Published by BibliophiliaNigeria, the full-colour glossy volume combines historical documentation with striking photography, showcasing Oyo’s landmarks, monuments, cultural festivals, traditional institutions, tourist attractions, natural endowments, communities and notable personalities.
Beyond commemorating the past five decades, the publication is positioned as a strategic showcase of Oyo State’s opportunities and investment potential to audiences across Nigeria and internationally.
The book features distinguished personalities and achievers alongside communities and people captured in their natural environments, creating a broad visual narrative of the state’s identity and heritage.
Dr. Kazeem Adesola Adeduntan wrote the foreword, while Dr. David Oluseyi Ige and Akogun Yinka Afonja contributed the prefaces. Dr. Kayode Adejumo-Bello served as editor.
The publishers said the publication is designed as both a collector’s item and an enduring historical reference, preserving Oyo State’s story for present and future generations.
It is expected to be strategically distributed to government institutions, diplomatic missions, libraries, educational institutions, corporate organisations, traditional rulers, investors, development partners and other influential networks within and outside Nigeria.
At 50, Distinctly Oyo State therefore goes beyond a commemorative publication, emerging as a visual archive of the Pacesetter State’s heritage, people, achievements, cultural identity and possibilities for the future.
