2027: APM Unveils Strategy To Defeat Tinubu, Says Makinde Is Ready To Lead

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has declared its readiness for the 2027 general elections, saying it has mapped out strategies to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polls.

The party said its strategy would centre on an inclusive, people-driven campaign aimed at mobilising Nigerians behind its presidential candidate, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

The APM National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar, disclosed this in Abuja on Wednesday, saying the party had established a “very strong and highly efficient campaign machinery” which would soon be unveiled to the public.

Abubakar said the party had, ahead of the official commencement of campaigns, conducted nationwide consultations and forged alliances with other opposition parties as part of efforts to challenge the APC for the presidency.

He expressed confidence that Makinde would emerge victorious, describing the Oyo governor as a popular candidate with strong governance credentials and what he called a credible blueprint for addressing the country’s challenges.

“Tomorrow marks the official commencement of campaigns and, as a party, I can assure you that we are ready for the task ahead.

“We have a very popular presidential candidate in Governor Seyi Makinde, and we have worked out strategies to ensure that not only do we win the ballot, but also that our winning votes are firmly protected,” Abubakar said.

The APM spokesman said the party would intensify its mobilisation efforts across the country and deploy experienced personnel to manage its campaign.

“We are working hard and will leave no stone unturned in our efforts in mobilising Nigerians for this election. We have assembled very credible hands to manage our campaign. We will unveil our campaign machinery to the public soon,” he said.

Abubakar further argued that Nigerians were seeking an alternative to the APC-led administration, citing what he described as the Tinubu administration’s poor performance in office.

He said the outcome of the recent Osun State governorship election demonstrated the ability of voters to determine electoral outcomes when allowed to freely express their choices.

“Most Nigerians have expressed their readiness to vote in Seyi Makinde as the credible alternative to President Tinubu. Of course, last Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State has shown the power of the people in an election. Come January 2027, Nigerians will speak with one voice for Seyi Makinde,” he said.

The APM spokesman also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure that the 2027 elections are free, fair and credible.

He urged the relevant authorities to ensure that the outcome of the elections reflects the genuine choices of Nigerians, while assuring that the APM would operate within the law to protect votes cast for its candidates.
