Akinyele Grassroots Mobiliser Adebass Dumps APC, Backs Makinde, Declares for APM.

The political landscape in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State is witnessing a fresh realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, as former Ward 8 Councillor, Chief Adeyemo Abass, popularly known as Adebass, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared his support for Governor Seyi Makinde and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Adebass, a prominent grassroots mobiliser, made his position known during a strategic meeting with Otunba Seye Famojuro, a close political ally of Governor Makinde, in Ibadan.

Sources familiar with the meeting said the former councillor hinged his decision on what he described as his personal assessment of the Makinde administration, its governance record and the prevailing political realities in the state.

Speaking after the meeting, Adebass said he was formally committing himself to working for the success of APM candidates in the 2027 elections.

“I have watched closely and I am convinced that Governor Seyi Makinde means well for Oyo State. His achievements in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and workers’ welfare speak for themselves. This is the kind of good governance we must sustain beyond 2027,” he said.

The former councillor further declared his support for the Omituntun 3.0 agenda under APM governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, describing him as a loyal and experienced party member capable of consolidating on the gains of the present administration.

Adebass also called on his supporters, political associates and grassroots stakeholders across Ward 8, Akinyele and other parts of Oyo State to align with the APM ahead of the 2027 elections.

He expressed confidence that his movement into the APM could trigger further political realignments among grassroots actors who identify with the Omituntun agenda.

The development adds a new dimension to the unfolding political calculations in Akinyele, with Adebass’s reported grassroots network expected to form part of the political dynamics ahead of the 2027 polls.
