The Oyo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has commenced a comprehensive five-day staff audit and verification exercise across the state’s 33 Local Government Areas, in a move aimed at strengthening personnel records and improving efficiency in local government administration.
The exercise, which commenced on Wednesday, began simultaneously across designated centres, including Ojongbodu in Oyo West, Offa Meta in Atiba and Arowomole in Ogbomoso South, drawing personnel from adjoining local governments for verification.
Leading the Commission’s Board and Management team, Chairman Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole (Wolekanle) said the exercise was not designed to witch-hunt workers, but to establish accurate, authentic and up-to-date personnel records across the Local Government Service.
Akinwole stressed that credible personnel data was essential to effective administration, professionalism and efficient service delivery, urging local government workers to remain committed to their duties and uphold excellence in public service.
The exercise was monitored by Commissioners Alhaji Yusuf Ali Akinkunmi (Supreme), Hon. Oladejo Emmanuel Oladokun, JP, and Hon. Christiana Nike Arewa, alongside the Commission’s management team led by the Permanent Secretary, Pastor Adeola Omoyeni Oduola.
Representatives of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), led by State President Comrade Ayobami Adeogun, also participated in the exercise.
The verification is expected to continue across other local government areas on Thursday as the Commission intensifies efforts to ensure a more credible, professional and efficient Local Government Service in Oyo State.
