Ekiti North 2027: OPO Steps Up Campaign for Senate Seat.

By Francis Adewumi

Political momentum is gathering across Ekiti North as Otunba Olugbega Peter Obafemi (OPO) steps up consultations and grassroots engagements ahead of the 2027 Senate election on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), positioning himself as a formidable contender with the experience, grassroots connection and service-driven agenda needed to provide purposeful representation for the senatorial district.

In recent weeks, Obafemi has engaged traditional rulers, political leaders, youth groups, women leaders and other community stakeholders across Ikole, Oye, Ido/Osi, Moba and Ikere LGAs, listening to the concerns of constituents while seeking their counsel, support and blessings.

“I have walked with you in the markets, in the palaces and in our communities. Now, I am ready to walk with you to Abuja to speak for us,” OPO said.

His supporters say his record of scholarships, medical outreaches and empowerment initiatives, undertaken long before his current political aspiration, reflects a longstanding commitment to the welfare and advancement of the people.

For many supporters, the emerging OPO campaign represents more than a bid for political office; it is a push for credible, accessible and results-oriented representation capable of turning the aspirations of Ekiti North into meaningful legislative action and development.

The SDP campaign is expected to focus on education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment and infrastructure, with Obafemi presenting himself as a candidate prepared to champion the interests of constituents and give Ekiti North a stronger voice at the National Assembly.

As the formal campaign draws closer, OPO’s growing grassroots engagements are increasingly placing his candidacy at the centre of political conversations across Ekiti North, with supporters insisting that the district deserves a senator who will not only speak for the people, but stand with them, work for them and deliver for them.
