The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, FNSE, has undertaken an extensive, day-long engagement with religious leaders, youth organisations, professional groups and community stakeholders across Ogbomoso, in a strategic push to deepen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Salawu, the Babalaje of Ogbomosoland, engaged key stakeholders yesterday between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., holding consultations with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ogbomoso Zone, as well as the Chief Imams of Ogbomoso, Ikoyi-Ile and Surulere.

The high-level engagements also extended to representatives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, the National Youth Congress, the Are Alasa community, persons with disabilities, market associations under ATAO, students, artisans and other critical groups within the Ogbomoso metropolis.

The consultations, which spanned various parts of the city, provided a platform for stakeholders to share their perspectives on the political, economic and social development of Ogbomoso and Oyo State, while exploring the prospects of a new direction ahead of the 2027 elections.

As part of the extensive programme, Salawu visited the Aare Alasa and Alapa Compound and paid a courtesy visit to his family house. He also undertook a brief walk through Saja, where he interacted with residents, supporters and other members of the community.

Reflecting on the engagements, Salawu described the day as a meaningful and encouraging experience, stressing that the breadth of the consultations underscored the importance of inclusive grassroots participation in shaping the state’s political future.

“9AM to 9PM — a day of meaningful engagement in Ogbomoso,” he stated.

The APM deputy governorship candidate further observed that his interactions with faith leaders, persons with visual impairment, youths, students, artisans and other community groups revealed what he described as a growing appetite for political change across the state.

Reaffirming his allegiance to the Allied Peoples Movement, Salawu declared that the party remained his political platform and expressed confidence in the party’s governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi.

“APM is our party. Bimbo Adekanmbi is our candidate for Governor of Oyo State. Together, we move. Together, we win,” he said.

The extensive stakeholder consultations come amid heightened political activities across Oyo State as political parties intensify grassroots mobilisation and strategic engagements in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
