Ekiti PDP Youths Back Makinde’s Direction, Reject Oluyede’s Alleged Parallel Move.

By Oyo Lens

The internal political temperature within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has risen, with the Ekiti State PDP Youth Ambassadors (EKSPYA) throwing its weight behind what it described as the political direction of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, while rejecting alleged attempts by the party’s 2026 governorship candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede, to operate outside the recognised party structure.

In a statement, EKSPYA accused Oluyede of convening political meetings and engagements allegedly independent of the established PDP leadership, describing the development as capable of deepening divisions within the party.

The youth body urged PDP members across the state to disregard and boycott meetings allegedly organised by Oluyede and his associates, insisting that individual political interests must not override the authority of the recognised party structure.

It further described the alleged political posture as “O.Y.O. — Oluyede On Your Own,” accusing the former candidate of acting independently of the mainstream PDP.

EKSPYA also criticised what it described as Oluyede’s endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguing that the position was inconsistent with the political direction it attributed to the PDP in Ekiti State.

According to the group, the Ekiti PDP has aligned with Governor Makinde’s position and the reported political understanding between the PDP and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The youth group stressed that no individual member, irrespective of political standing, should unilaterally determine the collective direction of the party, calling for adherence to party structures, discipline and collective responsibility.

EKSPYA further appealed to PDP leaders and stakeholders to prioritise reconciliation and institutional cohesion, warning that actions capable of widening internal divisions could undermine efforts to rebuild the party ahead of future political contests.

The allegations and political positions expressed by EKSPYA remain those of the group. Oluyede and other affected parties may wish to respond.
