The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has inaugurated its media team across the five local government areas of Ogbomoso, charging members to deploy professionalism, credibility and strategic communication in advancing the party’s programmes and candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

The inauguration, held at the Ogbomoso North Party House, Ajagungbade Plaza, Oke-Ado, Ogbomoso, brought together key party leaders, stakeholders and political actors from across Ogbomoso land.

Representing the incoming Deputy Governor, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, was the Babalaje of Ogbomoso land, Hon. Isaac Adegbite (Eyo), who stood in for the Deputy Governor.

Among other notable attendees were Hon. Rabiu Bello, popularly known as “Fine Boy”; Oyo State APM Treasurer, Hon. Sunday Bankole; Hon. Amusat Ibraheem; former council chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Akanji; former party chairman, Hon. Adekunle Adebayo; Hon. Dr. Alao Gbolahan (“Shine Shine”); and the

 incoming APM Chairman of Surulere.

Speaking at the event, media practitioner and Ogo-Oluwa stakeholder, Hon. Obalade Kadewole, charged the newly inaugurated team to understand the strategic importance of the media in contemporary politics.

Kadewole noted that effective political communication goes beyond publicity, stressing that the media plays a critical role in informing citizens, communicating policies and programmes, shaping public discourse and influencing public opinion.

The incoming APM Chairman in Ogbomoso North urged the team to work diligently towards the party’s success across the five local government areas, while cautioning members against promoting unverified claims.

He specifically charged the media practitioners to research and authenticate information about candidates before publishing or promoting them, insisting that credibility and integrity must remain central to their assignment.

The Oyo State APM Treasurer, Hon. Sunday Bankole, similarly urged the team to remain committed and consistent, noting that dedication to duty can create opportunities for members within the political space.

Citing Engr. Akeem Olatunji as an example, Bankole highlighted the value of commitment and perseverance, pointing to Olatunji’s emergence as a contestant for the Federal Representative position in Oluyole as evidence of what sustained dedication can achieve.

The meeting was ushered in and coordinated by Alhaji Bashiru.

The organisers also acknowledged the contributions of Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole Wolekanle, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, Prof. Abdulrahmon Rafael Afonje and other party leaders and stakeholders whose support contributed to the successful inauguration.

The inauguration represents a strategic move by the APM to strengthen its grassroots media network in Ogbomoso and position its communication structure for effective publicity, mobilisation and voter engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
