APM Gains Fresh Momentum in Oyo as 300 Defectors Abandon Rival Parties, Back Makinde.

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has recorded a major grassroots boost in Orelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, with about 300 members of various political parties defecting to the party and pledging their allegiance to Governor Seyi Makinde.

The defectors were formally received into the APM on Wednesday at Ward 7, in a political mobilisation led by renowned grassroots politician and former councillor, Hon. Balogun Rauf Bobo.

Speaking for the new members, Balogun attributed their decision to the administration’s performance and what he described as Makinde’s leadership qualities, adding that their defection was a demonstration of loyalty and appreciation for the governor’s achievements.

He also cited the growing political influence and grassroots mobilisation capacity of Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as a major factor behind the movement.

Balogun pledged the bloc’s unwavering support for Makinde’s presidential ambition, while assuring that the defectors would equally mobilise behind the political aspirations of Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi and other APM leaders.

He said the size of the defection underscored the expanding acceptance of the APM across Orelope and other parts of Oyo State, promising that the new members would work collectively with party leaders to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure.

The development attracted party leaders, supporters and political stakeholders, who welcomed the new entrants and described the movement as a significant addition to the APM’s political strength in the area.

The defectors subsequently pledged to promote the party’s ideals, strengthen its grassroots network and mobilise additional supporters ahead of forthcoming political activities in Oyo State.
