2027: OPO Seeks Ekiti North Mandate, Says “Give Me Your Hands, Hearts and Prayers”

ADO-EKITI — Social Democratic Party (SDP) senatorial candidate for Ekiti North, Otunba Olugbega Peter Obafemi, popularly known as OPO, has launched a direct appeal to voters across Oye, Ikole, Ido-Osi, Moba and Ilejemeje, seeking their support and prayers ahead of the 2027 National Assembly election.

OPO, in a statement issued by his Campaign Media Team, said his ambition was driven by years of grassroots engagement and a determination to provide effective and accountable representation for the senatorial district at the National Assembly.

“I am not asking for power for myself. I am asking for your trust. I am asking for your hands, your hearts and your prayers,” he said, urging constituents to join him in the bid to “bring purposeful representation back to the Red Chamber.”

His campaign agenda centres on job creation, agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure, skills development and federal project attraction, with a pledge to sponsor legislation and pursue interventions capable of delivering tangible benefits to constituents.

OPO said he would push for federal skills acquisition centres and ICT hubs across the five local government areas, while seeking agro-processing facilities, storage infrastructure and stronger market linkages to boost farmers’ incomes.

He also pledged to advocate improved healthcare delivery, including the upgrading of primary healthcare facilities and wider access to the National Health Insurance Scheme, as well as improved roads, rural electrification and potable water across Ekiti North.

Promising a more accountable representation, OPO said he would provide quarterly constituency reports and maintain regular town-hall engagements to ensure that constituents remain connected to his legislative activities in Abuja.

Defending his choice of the SDP platform, he described the party as “the party of the people” and maintained that Ekiti North deserved a senator capable of combining legislative competence with effective grassroots representation.

Appealing to residents at home and in the diaspora, OPO said: “Stand with me. Pray for me. Support me. Let us go to Abuja and bring back what belongs to Ekiti North.”

The 2027 contest is expected to intensify as political parties and aspirants begin mobilising across the five local government areas that make up Ekiti North Senatorial District.
