Oyo 2027: Ohanaeze Ndigbo Backs Adekanmbi, Demands Inclusive Governance

By Moyosore Eldrees.

The Oyo State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has expressed support for the governorship candidacy of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Hon. Abimbola “Bimbo” Adekanmbi, ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.

The position was conveyed during an engagement with members and stakeholders of the Igbo community in the state, where participants emphasised peaceful coexistence, political participation and inclusive governance.

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akinsola Akintayo, who attended the gathering, called for continued support for the APM’s political direction, including Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential aspiration and the candidacies of Adekanmbi and other party candidates.

Adekanmbi, in his remarks, assured the gathering that, if elected, his administration would pursue an inclusive governance framework that gives residents and communities across ethnic and social backgrounds a strong sense of belonging.

He emphasised that unity, cooperation and equal participation would remain central to building a prosperous and united Oyo State.

Adekanmbi was affirmed as the APM’s consensus governorship candidate in May 2026 during the party’s governorship and legislative primary exercise in Ibadan.

The engagement also recognised the longstanding contributions of the Igbo community to Oyo State’s social and economic development, while reinforcing calls for peaceful coexistence, political inclusion and collective progress.
