The Oyo State governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), Olooye Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke, FCA, has dismissed as false a claim circulating on social media that he promised to construct the Moniya-Saki railway within his first 100 days in office if elected governor.
Adegoke, while clarifying his position, said his actual commitment was to flag off the construction of the Moniya-Saki railway within his first 100 days in office, not to complete the project within the period.
He described the circulating version as a distortion of his statement and urged members of the public to disregard it as fake news.
The ADC candidate maintained that his statement was specifically about commencing the project through an official flag-off, stressing that the distinction was important given the scale and complexity of railway construction.
The clarification comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election, with candidates and political parties increasingly outlining their infrastructure and development agendas to voters.
