OyoSUBEB: 2025 Leave Bonus for Primary Teachers to Be Paid Within Weeks.

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) has assured primary school teachers across the state that the 2025 leave bonus is currently being processed and is expected to be finalised for payment within the next few weeks.

The Executive Chairman of OYOSUBEB, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, gave the assurance in a message to teachers on Thursday, August 20, 2026, amid concerns over delays in the payment of the allowance.

Adeniran clarified that OYOSUBEB does not directly fund or pay the salaries and leave bonuses of primary school teachers. Rather, the payments are processed through the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) from funds accruing to the Local Government Areas.

According to him, the board’s responsibility is to prepare the required documentation and facilitate the disbursement process once the necessary funds are made available through the JAAC account.

He stressed that teachers’ salaries and leave bonuses are not domiciled in OYOSUBEB’s bank accounts, and therefore cannot be directly disbursed by the board.

The chairman acknowledged teachers’ concerns over the delay, but appealed for patience, assuring them that the procedures required for the payment of the 2025 leave bonus are already underway.

Adeniran also recalled that the Oyo State Government inherited outstanding leave-bonus obligations from the previous administration, which were subsequently cleared under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare, while assuring teachers that efforts would continue to ensure the timely payment of leave bonuses, subject to established procedures and available resources.

“I understand the concerns of our teachers and appreciate your patience, understanding and continued commitment to duty,” Adeniran said, reaffirming the commitment of the government and OYOSUBEB to the welfare and wellbeing of primary school teachers.
